Grounding Weekend at My Childhood Home
Sometimes, when life feels too fast, I retreat to the place that keeps me grounded—my childhood home. Nestled deep in nature of the Australia bush lands, far from the noise. It’s where I first learned the value of simplicity. Growing up off the grid, we lived without the internet, limited tv reception and no mobile phones, so I spent hours creating and sewing, using old newspapers for patterns, and daydreaming over pages of magazines such as Vogue, and Marie Claire that my mother had collected. It’s in this quiet space that I fell in love with creating things by hand.
Last weekend, I brought my closest friends here for a little reset. We spent our days lounging in the sun, draped in airy sarongs, walking barefoot on the earth, and talking for hours under the trees. We did tarot cards, pulling cards from our past, present and future. Together cooking dinners, drinking wine and cherry juice - I was reminded of how everything feels better after time with friends and having close and intimate conversations.
There’s something about being surrounded by nature that reminds you what really matters—friends, stillness, and the beauty of the world around you. Life seems lighter when you can share it with friends.
Nature and friends really are the best medicine.
